Make sure the rise of your threshold is between 5/8" and 3/4". If it is greater or less than either of these measurements, the door may not close properly.
NOTE: It is recommended that you remove the transition strip before measuring the threshold.

You must have a gap of 3/8" from the bottom of the entry and screen doors to the top of the threshold. Without this clearance, the door will not have sufficient room to close when the steps are down.
Step 3: Step Height Measurement
Find your step height by measuring from the top of the threshold to the ground. This measurement determines which flip tread step model is right for your RV.
Step 4: Door Width Measurement
On the side or edge of the door, find the door width on the factory label. If there is no label, then on the inside of the door frame, measure from flange to flange at the base of the entry door. Refer to the Fit Chart for the door width. Keep in mind that the flange-to-flange measurement needed is the narrowest part of the entry door.
Step 5: Doorway Clearance
For door openings narrower than 27.75" between the flanges, a minimum of 5.5" of clearance on the inside of the doorway is required for the step to fold up correctly.
For door openings 27.75" to 28.25" between the flanges, the steps can be offset up to 4.5" to clear obstructions. If you have an obstruction such as an interior step that is protruding into the door opening, measure 4.5" from inside of the door flange, then check to see if there is at least 5.5" of clearance inside the door threshold from that point. If so, the steps will be able to fold up properly.

Door Jamb Trim: If there is trim on the back side of the door jamb that protrudes, it will interfere with the latch on the step. The trim will need to be notched 1/4" - 1/2" to accommodate the latch.
